I recorded this with my phone for a friend. I'm surprised how good phones are getting at recording things live! So, I thought I'd share. It is the song I wrote a year and a half ago, just before I drove off into the desert.

Dirty dishes in a dirty sink piling up
It's been a few weeks
Since I had the energy to get those things done
Dirty dishes in the dirty sink
I could use some help
But all the money in my bank account is gone

I spent it all last year on trying to stay alive
On doctors and medicine
And things that were required for my survival

Now I'm sick again
And I'm sick of being sick
I'm sick of feeling sorry for something I never did
I'm sick of this short straw drawn before I was born
But I'm not gonna back away
'Cause I still got something to say

Eat right. Sleep tight, eight hours every night
Thirty minutes of sunlight every day
To anticipate a long and healthy love
Fresh food, fresh air
Keep moving. Keep positive. No when to move on
One must not underestimate the benefits of exercise.

But I've had to do battle with the reaper anyway
This game I'm playing was rigged before I ever was made

Now I'm sick again

Time is short on a small planet
In a tiny corner of the vast and expansive universe where we belong
The galaxies, the stars, the planets which seem to go on and on forever

The ephemeral nature of all of our lives
